Facial liposuctions are used to achieve a more youthful and trimmer look 

 
Facial liposuction is a procedure used to remove excess fat form the jaw area and other facial areas. This procedure is often used to eliminate the “turkey neck” appearance.

It’s recommended for people who have lost a considerable amount of weight and cannot rid of their facial fat deposits. Exercise and proper nutrition does not usually help in reducing the amount of fat in the face by a considerable amount, so surgery can be a great tool for helping patients look younger and fitter.



The procedure takes between half an hour and a full hour. It is completed under local anesthesia combined with a sedative to help keep the patient relaxed. The procedure can also be completed under light general anesthesia, depending on the patient’s wishes. Incisions are made under the chin and behind the earlobes, and they are about one sixteenth of an inch wide.

Next, the surgeon deposits a dilute solution into the fatty areas. The solution is kept in that area for about 30 minutes so that it is easier to remove the fat later. This technique eliminates post-surgery pain and most bruising. However, some surgeons choose not to use this solution. The fat cells are then suctioned out.

Incisions are closed with surgical stitches, which will be removed after a few days. After the surgery, a gentle compression device may be recommended for use to help with swelling and bruising of the face. A face liposuction surgery can be performed with other procedures at the same time, like chemical peels.



Some patients experience allegoric reactions to the solutions used during the surgery. Other patients may develop infections in the stitches area; these can be treated with antibiotics.

Older patients often undergo other plastic surgeries in combination with face liposuction to rid of wrinkles. This gives a more youthful effect to the face.
